Create and edit company assets

The Company Assets Register allows you to create and manage existing and planned company assets, such as roads and buildings or any other physically owned company asset. By linking assets to geometries, Borealis helps you visualize and understand stakeholder relationships associated with those assets.

If you have geometry files for your company assets, we recommend importing them to Borealis so they can be added directly to the company asset record during the creation process.

Create a Company asset

You can either manually create company assets in Borealis or use the Excel templates to import company assets in bulk directly into your application.

1. Navigate to Company assets in Land access.

2. Click the +Create button in the upper left corner of the register.

   

3. Fill in the mandatory fields:
   • Unique identifier: This will be used as the unique identifier for your company asset.
   • Asset type: This identifies the type of company asset. With the right profiles you can create new ones.
   • Projects: This indicates the project to which this company assets belongs. 
4. Fill in additional fields as needed:
   • Name: This is the name of this company asset.
   • Geometry: This drop-down list allows you to select a previously imported geometry for this company asset. Note that a geometry can only be used once.
   • Address: This indicates the address of the company asset.
   • Buffer zone(meters): This is a buffer zone around the company asset on the map. You can flag Set manually to manually define it the size of the buffer. Everything inside that buffer zone will be shown in the Overlaps section, whether it is stakeholders, parcels, company assets, etc. 
5. Click the Save button.

Note: As a Superuser, you can add additional fields using the Fields Configuration ( ) icon in the top-right corner of the screen. You can flag Create another to bring up a new form and create another company asset. 

Edit a Company asset

After creating a company asset, you can edit its general information and/or its geometry.

1. Navigate to Company assets in Land access.
2. Locate and open the company asset for which you want to edit its information.
3. In the General information page, click the Edit (Pencil) icon on the right-hand side of the page, either for the top section or the Geometry section.
   
4. Modify the information as needed.
5. Click the Save button.
