Setup Your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Login in Borealis

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is a security process that requires users to provide two or more forms of verification to gain access to an application or a digital resource.

After your superuser has activated MFA, you will be redirected to the Configure MFA page to set up your login.

What you Need Before Accessing Borealis

Before you can access the Borealis Application through MFA you will need:

  • A laptop, computer, mobile phone, or tablet with access to the Internet
  • A Web browser: Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari
  • The login information assigned to you by your system administrator
  • The website address for the Borealis instance of your organization provided by your system administrator
  • A properly setup and ready to use Time-Based, One-Time Password (TOTP) application, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, on your phone or your browser. You should refer to your IT department to use the appropriate TOTP application.

Configure your TOTP Application from the Configure MFA Page

  1. Log into Borealis with your username and password or with your enterprise login.
  2. You will then be redirected to the Configure MFA page.
  3. Use your phone to scan the QR code for the TOTP application.
  4. The TOTP application will generate a Verification code to link it with your Borealis login.
  5. Copy the code in the Verification field of the Configure MFA page.
  6. Click the Submit code button.MFA-QR-code.jpg

The verification code is generated by your TOTP application and is a 6 digit password, renewed every 30 seconds. This one-time password will be used for the second level authentication of your company's multi-factor authentication process.
