Size Limit for Smart Communications

You should verify with your IT department whether there are restrictions regarding the size of the email that can be sent using your company email.

There are no inherent software limitations from Borealis when it comes to the size of smart communications you want to send.

There are however several possible limitations that can be introduced from both your infrastructure and your recipient's infrastructure:

  • We normally recommend to limit sizes of smart communications to 15 MB; however, you should contact your IT department to verify whether your email server can support emails of this size or whether they can support bigger emails.
  • Additionally, your smart communication recipients may also be limited by size restrictions from their inboxes, such as 20MB or 25MB.

Due to those possible restrictions, you should aim to reduce the size of your smart communications to ensure you can reach a greater audience when sending smart communications.

Tips to Send Larger Amounts of Content

  • Use the smallest attachments possible: while not always ideal, sometimes you can reduce the size of attachments included in smart coms by removing some of the content, by adjusting the resolution of bigger images and videos, or by using compression tools to lower the quality of videos or convert them to smaller formats.
  • Use Cloud Storage Services: You can upload large files to cloud storage services and include the links to the files in the smart communication to redirect people there. This is especially useful when you have high resolution images or multimedia files.
  • Compress larger files: You can compress larger files into ZIP or RAR formats before attaching them to the smart communication. You might then need to make sure your recipients have access to the necessary software to decompress the files.
  • Restructure your smart communication and divide it: Sometimes your initial smart communication can cover several topics that are not necessary interlinked to one another. In such cases, you might be able to split a single smart communication into 2 and send them separately.
  • Use external links: You can use external links to content hosted on the web.
  • Use file transfer services: Several file transfer services are available on the web. You can use them to send larger files that would not necessarily be able to fit in your smart communication.
