AI Summary and Translation

We've been working hard to make Borealis even better for you. In this release, we've focused on tackling some common challenges like dealing with too much information, language barriers, and the need for quick decisions. Our new AI-powered features are here to make managing and communicating with your stakeholders easier and more efficient.


AI-Generated Summaries for Communications and Documents: Save time and make faster decisions with our new "Summarize" button. Quickly generate AI summaries of your communications to understand key points at a glance. This feature also extends to documents, allowing you to easily generate and save summaries in the description column, capturing important details without the hassle of sifting through lengthy texts.

AI-Generated Translations (On-Demand): Enhance collaboration and break down language barriers with our new translation feature. Translate content in the “Summary” or “Description” fields, or even attached documents, with a simple click. This on-demand translation allows you to view, copy, and switch back to the original text as needed, ensuring clear and concise communication across diverse teams.

AI Insights Refinements

Building on the AI Insights BETA launch from our Q1 release last March, which allowed task creation from AI insights, this release adds functionalities like issue management, quick task creation, and the introduction of AI Insights in the engagement plans.


AI-Generated Quick Task Creation: Save time on manual data entry and focus more on task execution with AI-generated suggestions for actions and due dates. This feature streamlines task creation, making task management easier and more efficient.

Create/Link Issues from AI Insights: Simplify the process of identifying and managing issues with direct AI insights integration. This feature allows you to easily create or link issues directly from AI insights, enabling proactive issue management and early addressing of potential concerns.

Engagement Plan Enhancements: Gain deeper insights into engagement plans to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. Leveraging AI insights boosts efficiency in the Engagement Plan module, and the new 'Stakeholder' filter helps manage stakeholder-related tasks within engagement plans more effectively.

Improved AI Insights Handling: Maintain a clear record of issues and actions taken, promoting accountability and transparency. This feature lets you adjust the category of an insight if it’s incorrectly labeled, receive notifications when no insights are generated, and edit comments explaining why an insight was marked as 'Not Relevant' for better tracking.



Online Contribution Request Interface

We're pleased to introduce a brand new feature to the Borealis Social Investment module. Our new Online Contribution Request Interface is designed to make managing Community Contributions and easier, reducing the need for manual entry and streamlining the entire process.



Customizable Welcome Page: Personalize the welcome experience with custom introductions, instructions, and links. This helps stakeholders feel informed and supported right from the start.

Customizable Contribution Request Form: Create forms that meet your specific needs with various field options and configurations, ensuring accurate data collection. This makes managing Community Contribution records easier and more efficient.

Customizable Confirmation Page: Provide tailored confirmation messages and follow-up instructions, including contact details for any further inquiries. This ensures clear and professional communication throughout the process.

PDF Export: Requesters can export their submissions to PDF, with each request automatically saved in the “Documents” section. This keeps records organized and accessible, supporting transparency.

New Configuration Section: Allows Borealis users to easily set up and manage their online contribution request portal. This simplifies the setup and management process.

Email Confirmation Configuration: Customize email confirmations for requesters, including the Community Contribution reference number. This provides requesters with confirmation and relevant details, enhancing transparency.


Duplicates Management and Prevention

We’re introducing some helpful updates to enhance data quality in Borealis. Duplicate records often lead to confusion and inefficiencies, making it hard to manage stakeholder information effectively. Our new features are designed to simplify the management of potential duplicates for individuals and organizations, ensuring your data remains clean, accurate, and reliable.


New user interface for Managing Duplicates: The updated interface makes it easier to handle duplicates by highlighting differences in records. You can merge duplicates or ignore them if they are not the same stakeholder. This streamlines the process, improving data accuracy and user confidence.

Inform Someone Feature: If you don’t have edit access to the potential duplicated record you will not be able to merge nor ignore it. However, now you can notify someone with the right permissions to handle these duplicates, sending all necessary information through a personalized message. This ensures smooth data management and maintains data integrity.

Duplicate Warning Upon Creation: When creating new records, the system identifies potential duplicates and alerts you. Compare records and decide whether to proceed or cancel. This prevents duplicate creation, saving time and reducing errors.

New Duplicates Management user profile: It is now possible to limit who has access to manage duplicates. If the option is activated, only the profiles SE - Stakeholder Duplicate Manager and Superuser, will have access to manage duplicates. 


Land Management Properties

We're excited to introduce feature to the Land Management Module. Managing multiple land parcels can be a headache, especially when they're all owned by the same person or entity. That's why we've rolled out the new "Properties" feature. This tool lets you group contiguous parcels into a single property, simplifying your land management tasks.


Property Creation and Management: Grouping contiguous parcels into a single property simplifies record-keeping and management. This feature reduces administrative headaches and saves time, making it easier to handle multiple parcels as one entity.

Agreement Records Integration: When drafting agreements, you can now reference the unified property instead of each parcel individually. This minimizes errors and ensures all details are accurate, enhancing the reliability of your documentation.

Stakeholder Communications: Engaging with stakeholders who own multiple parcels is now easier. Manage all their land as a single property, streamlining communications and negotiations for a more effective engagement process.

Enhanced User Experience: The Properties feature simplifies managing land parcels with an intuitive interface and streamlined workflows. This makes the entire process more user-friendly and satisfying.


United States Database of Government Officials

We're happy to introduce an updated version of the US Database of Government Officials to help you manage interactions with government stakeholders more efficiently. These updates are driven by client feedback and aim to provide up-to-date information on officials at various government levels, making it easier to find and communicate with the right contacts.


Officials Management: Officials are now loaded inside organizations, similar to staffers, and can be found in the Organization record. They can also be manually added to the Stakeholder register, making it easy to access comprehensive and up-to-date information on government officials, streamlining your interaction process.

Email Integration: Emails sent to officials using the Outlook add-in or email BCC will automatically create them in the stakeholder register and link to the communication. This ensures all communications with officials are tracked and linked correctly.

Expanded Data Coverage: Includes information on state executive branches (e.g., Transportation, Environment, Agriculture), and county and municipal levels for areas with populations over 5000. This provides detailed and structured data on officials at various government levels, ensuring you have the necessary information.

Role Field Improvement: The Role field is now a multiselect field, preventing duplicate positions and improving accuracy. This enhances flexibility and accuracy in defining roles for officials.

Configuration Flexibility: A new section under Configuration -> Officials allows Borealis users to customize which officials are loaded into the system by state and organization type. This provides flexibility to tailor data sync to specific needs.


Other Improvements

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Categorization values can now be shared across Individuals and Organisations, to facilitate common reporting and filtering. When setting up the values in the Data dictionary, you can now choose if a categorization is available for Individuals, Organizations or both.
  • Now, when duplicating a Land Management engagement plan it is possible to also duplicate the parcel selection parameters. After the action the parcels and stakeholders are recalculated.
  • Smart Communications: It is now possible to link a smart communication to an issue, automatically linking all created communications to the selected issue.
  • There is now a new Verification section in the stakeholders record where users can perform the verify action.


  • When closing an issue that was previously reopened, the system now remembers the closeout information previously entered.
  • When referring a grievance to an external mechanism, you can now select the external party from the new 'Referred External Party' field added to the form.
  • Mobile App Offline: It is now possible to create a grievance or commitment while using the offline mode of the Borealis Mobile App, by selecting the "This is a grievance" or "This is a commitment" toggle button found in the communication form.


  • The commitment field has been added in the task creation form to allow linking the task to one or multiple commitments at once. If the task has already exists, the option to link task to commitments is now available from the commitment section of the task record and the "Link to" action from the Actions Menu.
  • Now, when selecting the actions 'Complete,' 'Mark as unfinished,' or 'Add a follow-up' in tasks that contain a checklist, the checklist elements will be displayed.


  • A new template report has been added to analytics with information about the AI Insights
  • A new field "last communication" is now available in analytics for: Organizations, Individuals, All stakeholders
  • New report filter option - Monitoring station to be used with Monitoring and Evaluation based reports.
  • Excepting the Indicator Widget, it is now possible to convert all other widget types into a Combination Chart.

Land Management

  • Land agreements - It is now possible to add links to a Document Management System as proof of payment.
  • It is now possible to link Company Assets to Samples and Monitoring Programs from the Monitoring and Evaluation module.
  • A new action “View parcels” has been added on the individual and organization record under the sections Parcel - Titleholders and Parcel - Occupants.
  • It is now possible to link all records to Company Assets including Tasks and Distribution Lists
  • It is now possible to see the linked parcels in samples and monitoring stations based on the geographical overlap.

Social Investment

  • A new action is now available in the communications form to link to a community contribution. This can also be done when selecting multiple communications.


  • It is now possible to link Stakeholder to Compliance Documents

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • A new type of parameter has been added: Date/Time.
  • It is now possible to link Samples and Monitoring Programs to Company Assets from the Land Management module.


  • When Corporate View is activated, it is now possible to deactivate the Issues and Commitments sections on a single instance.
  • It is now possible to configure email notification preferences from the user's profile. A new section called "Email notifications" has been added to the user page that allows to choose the email notifications received when an email is processed by Borealis.
