Chrome integrated search engine

It is possible to search in the Borealis application directly via the URL bar in Chrome.

With this functionality, there is no need to log into Borealis to access records. This simple trick helps access records faster and saves time navigating through web pages.



  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Access Chrome’s search engine settings by copying this URL in the address bar: chrome: 'chrome://settings/'.
  3. At the top right, click More More and then Settings.
  4. Under 'Search engine', click Manage search engines.
  5. Scroll down to the section 'Other search engines', click on 'Add' and enter the following information:
    1. Search engine: This field reflects the name of the search engine. Ex: Boréalis
    2. Keyword : Used to activate the search engine. Ex : 'Communications'
    3. URL with %s instead of query
      1. To identify the relevant URL, search Borealis in the section of your choice. Ex:  search for 'Test' in the 'Communications' section
      2. Copy the URL of the Boréalis section to which you were redirected. In our example:
      3. Paste the URL in the 'URL with %s instead of query', locate the keyword used, and replace it with '%s'..  Ex:  'test'

Using the search engine

Once this setup is completed, return to your Chrome browser. In the search bar, you can now enter the keyword set up above, followed by a space. Ex: 'communications '. The text in the search bar will turn into 'Search Boréalis Communications' and you will be able to enter the keyword on which you want to apply the search.
