Boréalis to End Support for Internet Explorer : What It Means For You

Why is Boréalis ending support for Internet Explorer?

In 2015, Microsoft released Edge, a modern web browser to eventually replace Internet Explorer (IE). Since this time, Microsoft has not introduced any major updates to IE or added support for modern web standards. It also recently began discouraging the use of Internet Explorer as a default browser.

How will this affect you?

End of support means we will no longer fix bugs specific to IE11. We will also begin to introduce features in Boréalis that are not compatible with this browser. Ending support for IE11 will also allow us to better support browsers that follow modern web standards. This in turn will optimize the functionality of Boréalis software and your user experience.

When will Boréalis end support for IE11?

Boréalis will end all support for IE11 by the end of June 2020. For Boréalis software, the last version to support IE11 will be released between April 2020 and June 2020. All subsequent versions will not support IE11

What should you do?

In preparation for this planned end of support, and because IE is usually slower anyway, we recommend that you switch to one of our supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari
