Classify automatically your stakeholders using their email domain name

As many organisations, you may often have to engage with large stakeholder organisations. To ease your data quality work, Boréalis created a simple way to automatically add an individual's position within an organisation using their email domain name.

Relevant business cases for this feature include:

  • Working with large corporations that has common domain names (ex: largecorporation.com, etc.)
  • Working with governements and cities (ex: government.gouv, city.info, etc.)

This feature may not apply in your case if you:

  • Are working with intricate domain names/sub-domains for organisations that include numerous variations (ex: departement.organisation.com)

Here is how to configure a domain name per organisation:

  1. Access an organisation record
  2. Go to the "Contact" tab
  3. Click the "Add" button under the "Contact information section"
  4. In the dropdown list for the "Contact type", select "Domain"
  5. In the contact detail field, add the identified domain name for the organisation (ex: example.ca)
    • Do not add "https://, http://, @" and/or other prefixes
  6. Add relevant comments, if necessary
  7. Save

As an example, here are the steps to follow to configure "boreal-is.com" in the organisation "Boréalis" you may have in your stakeholders:

What Borealis will now do for you:

  • If you create a new individual in your Borealis, using for example the Borealis Outlook Add-in, the system will automatically link the new individual to the targeted organisation, creating a blank position for you to fill later
  • This way, Borealis allows you to have a complete overview of your communications with a given organisation, including new people that your team may not have updated yet

In the previous example, new stakeholders identified with an email address "[...]@boreal-is.com" will automatically be linked to the Borealis organisation.

If you plan to add many domains, Borealis has an import tool available for you to batch create and link domain names to organisations.
