A Fresh, Faster Way to Create Communications

Say hello to a brand-new communication creation experience in Borealis!
We've completely redesigned the interface to help you get your work done faster, with less friction and more clarity. Whether you're logging a quick note or capturing detailed context, the new form makes every step smoother.

What’s New

  • A Modern, Streamlined Layout: The interface is now cleaner and more intuitive. The main section (left side) focuses on what matters most—your communication content—while the secondary section (right side) highlights required fields first, then gives you access to optional ones only when you need them. No clutter, just clarity.
  • Built-In Task Management: Stay on top of next steps without switching screens. You can now link existing tasks or create new ones directly from the communication form using a quick task modal. Plus, smart task suggestions help you take action faster based on what you’re writing.
  • Quick Feedback, Real Impact: Love it? Not quite there yet? Let us know in two clicks. A simple thumbs-up or down and a single comment box give you a voice in shaping the future of Borealis. It’s right at the top of the form—easy to find, easy to use.
  • Choose Your Experience: Not ready to switch? No problem. The new interface is available through an activation toggle on the top right corner of the screen, so you can explore it when you're ready. You stay in control.

Benefits

  • Quicker Adoption: A simplified and intuitive interface helps new users start using Borealis more quickly and confidently.
  • Ongoing Engagement: The improved user experience encourages consistent use of the communication creation tool.
  • Better Data Quality: The redesigned flow reduces the chances of missing key fields, resulting in more complete and accurate records.
  • Less User Friction: Fewer steps and better guidance make the process faster and less error-prone.

Task Chains Now Available in Stakeholder Engagement & Social Investment

Streamline your workflows with Task Chains – now extended to Engagement Plans, Issues, Grievances, and Community Contributions.

Managing stakeholder relationships and community programs requires precision, structure, and seamless coordination across teams. With the new Task Chains feature in Borealis, you can now standardize, automate, and track multi-step processes effortlessly across your key engagement and investment records.

What’s New

  • Predefined, Sequential Task Flows: Tasks launch one after another automatically, ensuring no steps are missed and everyone knows what to do and when.
  • Embedded in Key Modules: Now available directly within Engagement Plans, Issues, Grievances, and Community Contributions, users can start, manage, and track task chains without leaving their records.
  • Task Chain Configuration Panel: Admins can configure task chains by form type, define custom task sequences, and use intuitive rules like “assign to the user who completed the last task.”
  • Smart Task Transitions: Complete, cancel, put on hold, or mark tasks as unfinished to keep momentum while adapting to real-world conditions.
  • Batch Operations: Link or complete tasks and entire chains across multiple records—saving time and improving consistency across large-scale initiatives.

Benefits

  • Improved Process Visibility: Dashboards and task histories give everyone—from field users to executives—clear, real-time views of progress and accountability.
  • Increased Efficiency: Automating task sequences minimizes manual errors, speeds up operations, and ensures no critical steps are forgotten.
  • Enhanced Stakeholder Trust: Well-orchestrated workflows reflect a professional, responsive organization that communities and institutions can rely on.

Geospatial Data API – Publish Spatial Data Natively, Securely, and Live

Seamlessly connect Borealis with ArcGIS and other GIS tools to power real-time spatial insights.

For clients who rely on GIS platforms to drive planning, analysis, and compliance, the new Geospatial Data API eliminates the need for manual exports. Borealis can now deliver live, GIS-ready data directly to your mapping tools—securely and in real time—via a Web Feature Service (WFS) connection.

What’s New

  • Live Data Streams via WFS: Publish predefined Borealis layers—including, conditions, agreements, issues, or any other information stored in Borealis—directly into ArcGIS, QGIS, or any other GIS ready tool using standard WFS 1.0 and 2.0 protocols.
  • Secure, Token-Based API Access: Each WFS connection is protected through a secure token authentication process and linked to a dedicated WFS user profile.
  • Customized Layer Definitions: Define spatial layers using SQL-based configurations, tailored to your instance and data structure. Supports points, lines, and polygons.
  • Hands-Off Maintenance: Once set up by Borealis Support, data flows automatically into your GIS tools—no more exports, emails, or version mismatches.

Benefits

  • Real-Time Accuracy: Always work with the most current data in your GIS maps—no lag, no duplication.
  • Time Savings: Eliminate repetitive export/import tasks and reduce reliance on data teams.
  • Increased Adoption: Make Borealis data easily accessible to other departments via familiar GIS platforms.
  • Strategic Integration: Combine spatial and stakeholder data to support smarter decisions in land management, regulatory compliance, and social investment planning.
