A Task Chain is a predefined sequence of tasks that helps guide users through a repeatable workflow — like an engagement plan, grievance process, or agreement review. Each task in the chain appears automatically at the right moment, ensuring key steps are followed in the right order.
You can configure task chains for any the following forms:
- Engagement Plans
- Issues
- Grievances
- Commitments
- Community Contributions
- Agreements
Configure a Task Chain
You’ll need the Task Chain - Administrator ou superuser profile to set this up.
Step-by-step: Create a Task Chain
- Go to Tasks in the left-hand menu and then click on the Task Chains tab.
- Click the + Create button.
- Enter a Process Name (e.g., “Land Negotiation Flow”).
- Select the Form type. The task chain will be available only in the corresponding Borealis section.
- Engagement Plan
- Issue
- Grievance
- Commitment
- Community Contribution
- Agreement
- If you have selection the Agreement: add a Restricted agreement type.
- Add a Restricted Project if the chain should only be used in certain projects. If the field is left empty, the task chain will be available in any project.
- Define the sequence using the Task section. For each task you want to add to the chain:
- Click + Add task
- Enter a Title (e.g., “Initial Consultation”)
- Choose the Task Type (from the data dictionary)
- Add a Description (optional)
- Set the Order of the task (e.g., 1, 2, 3…). Use the highest number if you want your task to be at the end of the chain. If you choose another number, the order for the other tasks will be reorganized automatically.
- Define Assignment Rules and Lead Time (it will define the due date of the task depending of when the previous task is resolved or the task chain is started).
- Click Save, then Activate to make it usable.
