The Agreement Renewal Process in Borealis enables you to renew agreements that include renewal clauses while maintaining all agreement information within a single record. Rather than creating a new agreement, you update the existing one, thereby preserving historical data and facilitating reporting and payment planning.
This article provides instructions on how to renew an agreement.
Renew an Agreement
- Navigate to Agreements within Land Access.
- Open the land agreement you wish to renew.
Note: Expired or Rejected agreements cannot be renewed. Only agreements containing a renewal clause are eligible for renewal. - Click the Actions menu.

Select the Confirm renewal option.
Note: Confirm renewal option is only visible if the agreement has a renewal clause and Does This Agreement Have a Renewal Clause? is set to 'Yes' in this agreement record.

In Confirm renewal form, enter the New expiry date, Renewal notes and Comments and click Save.
Note: If the agreement can be renewed again, select the Does This Agreement Have a Renewal Clause? checkbox.
After the renewal is confirmed, the following changes are made to the agreement record:
- The New Expiry Date becomes the agreement's Expiry Date.
- Renewal process status is set to 'Not started'
- Renewal notes are updated.
- If Does This Agreement Have a Renewal Clause? is selected, the Does This Agreement Have a Renewal Clause? field is automatically set to Yes.
