Features can be queried directly from the map. For Borealis layers, users can view record information, perform available actions, and open the associated General Information page. For external GIS layers, users can view read-only feature attributes returned by the external GIS source.

View Layers on the Map
- Navigate to Map.
- Click the Layers
button in the bottom-left corner of the map.
- In the Layers panel, locate the layer you want to view.
- Turn on the layer toggle to display the layer on the map.
📌Note: You can enable multiple layers at the same time to display them on the map.
Query a Feature on the Map
- Click a feature on the map.
- Wait for Borealis to query the selected feature.
- Review the displayed feature attributes.
Review Multiple Query Results
If multiple features are returned from visible layers for a single map click, Borealis displays a feature selection panel.
- Query a location where multiple features overlap.
- Review the list of returned features in the feature selection panel.
- Identify the feature you want to inspect using the displayed feature labels.
- Click Select for the desired feature.
- Review the feature attributes displayed in the details panel.
- For Borealis layers, select View Details
to open the feature's General Information page.
📌Note: For the external GIS layers, the Feature display label configured for the layer is used to identify each feature in the results list.
View Feature Attributes
After querying a feature, Borealis displays the available information for the selected layer. The information shown varies depending on whether the feature belongs to a Borealis layer or an External GIS layer.
Borealis Layer
- When you query a feature, a feature information popup is displayed.
- Select the feature identifier link to open the associated Borealis record.
- This opens the record's General Information page.
- Use available actions, such as Update Contact Status, as needed.
External GIS Layer
- When you query a feature, a feature information panel is displayed on the right side of the map.
- Review the information displayed in the panel.
- View the feature attributes returned by the external GIS source.
- Review the external source and layer information, if available.
📌Note: External GIS feature queries are read-only. You can view feature attributes but cannot edit external GIS data from Borealis.
