Location levels allow to group and report on multiple locations. Unlike zones, location levels serve to bring precision when locating a specific place. For example, when adding a location of a stakeholder, these terms will help deciding on the right location when there are multiple choices with the same name:
Here are the available levels accessible through the Configuration menu:
If you need to create new levels or to activate or deactivate existing ones, please contact Boréalis team. When a level is deactivated, all locations attached to it will not appear in the location list anymore.
Location levels are hierarchical, some of them having another level as its parent. For example, a state/province has the country level as its parent, while a sub locality is a child level of the city. A country level does not have any other parent, although it may, if need be.
In the advanced tab of every location level, you may find out that:
- There are two types of levels: automatic (that works through Google geocoder) or manual (through a manual data entry). For example, when creating a new location, you will have the following information automatically filled out or not depending on the selected entry method. This information is structured by categories that represent the levels we are presenting in this article.
- You may choose to display or not the level when users are selecting a location for a stakeholder or engagement record. In general, most of the levels are available together with the location name since they bring precision when you have multiple locations with the same title (as in the above example with Washington).
- Locations associated to a specific level marked to be used only in searches will not be associated to any stakeholders or communication records. However, it will still be possible to use the locations of such a hidden level in searches or as filters.
- If users chose to select the box Hide when entering addresses, all locations associated to that level will not display the level in the address field of stakeholders.
